Join us for weekly themed interpretation events for families and the general public from 1 – 4 pm. Start with a picnic or just drop in and take part in activities, meet our guests and have some fun! Admission by donation unless stated otherwise, and members are admitted free. Some events have limited participation and may require pre-registration. June 30 – Archives Orientation for Seniors
Come for a guided tour of the new Wellington County Archives, view the storage and preparation areas and learn how to use all of the resources we have! A great introduction to our renowned collection. Refreshments to follow in the Victorian Garden. Admission by donation.
July 7th – “Critters and Crawlers”
Join us for an interesting and educational afternoon with a guest presentation from the Guelph Nature Centre. Meet the critters and crawlers who live right here in Wellington county! Admission by donation.
July 14 – Paper Extravaganza!
Back by popular demand we will be making paper of all kinds, giving due respect to the history of papermaking, first invented by the Chinese almost 2000 years ago! Try you hand at this amazing process – you will be hooked! Please pre-register for this activity, space is limited. Admission by donation.
July 21- “Fairy Tales”
For centuries children and adults have been charmed by the idea of fairies in the world! Join for an afternoon of stories and crafts celebrating these little creatures! From Tinker bell to the Tooth Fairy, let’s have some fun! Prize for the best set of wings! Admission by donation.
July 28 – Afternoon Tea in the Victorian Garden
Back by popular demand, our mid-summer tea will again feature Tarot Card readings by Shelly Carter, local reader and tea expert! Tea seating’s are at 1:00pm or 2:30pm, pre-registration is required. Cost is $2.00 for children and $4.00 for adults. Tarot Readings extra.
August 4 –Hansel & Gretel
Presentation and theatre workshops by Grinder Productions. This afternoon we will be entertained by the local Grinder Theatre Productions version of the fairytale classic, Hansel & Gretel. After the performance, visitors are welcome to take part in a variety of theatre-based workshops and activities. Uncover your hidden talents and join us! Admission by donation.
August 11th – Navy Daze
Let’s celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy! Join us for an afternoon of outdoor games and naval activities as we mark the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy. Also visit our on-going exhibit, HMCS Fergus: Live aboard a World War 11 Corvette. Admission by donation. Navy attire welcome!
August 18 – Bread Making 101
Meet us in the Sunroom for a lesson in the art and science of making bread! From the early settlers time to today bread is still often thought of as the “staff of life”. Learn some tricks and try making some of your own! Admission by donation.
August 25 – Afternoon tea and 1950’s fashion show.
Join us in the Aboyne hall for a period tea and a walk down memory lane with fashions, music and a distinct 50’s vibe. Cost is $2.00 for children and $4.00 for adults. One sitting only, pre-register for this event. Fashion show will start at 1:30 pm.
