Wellington County Police Services Board
The Wellington County Police Services Board (W.C.P.S.B.), developed a false alarm policy aimed at reducing the number of false alarms since 2002. Since inception, the Wellington County O.P.P. have responded to approximately 1600 false alarms yearly, that required 3,312 officer hours.
Most of these alarms are caused by human error or equipment malfunction. False Alarms have a serious impact on police service resources; resources which could be better utilized to enhance police presence throughout Wellington County.
The Wellington County Police Services Board and Wellington County O.P.P. are working toward reducing the number of False Alarms requiring Police response, by continuing to monitor alarm locations and issuing fee invoices to the owners of premises having “At Fault” False Alarms.
“At Fault” False Alarms are those which are caused by human error or equipment problems, requiring Police response, with no evidence of a criminal offence or attempted criminal offence.
