Our newly renovated library is beautiful! We are enjoying the light, spacious and welcoming atmosphere. Come in and browse or spend time reading in our newly created lounge area. Kids and young adults have their own special areas. We are grateful for all the work involved in maintaining the integrity of our original Carnegie library.
Special mention to the Four Corners Quilt Guild of Mount Forest for the unique and amazing work that went into our quilted wall hanging.

Library Information
The Mount Forest Public Library had its formal inception on February 8, 1860. 112 books were purchased for $80.00 and were placed in an office on the main street of town. With the generous donation of $10,000.00 by Andrew Carnegie and the donation of land by the Luxton family, the Mount Forest Carnegie Library was completed and opened to the public in December 1913.
The library officially became part of the Wellington County Library system on January 1, 1982.
Today, the Mount Forest Library retains its old world charm. Recent renovations uncovered the original tin ceilings and preserved the wooden arches, wooden pillars and stained glass windows. A heritage building designation has helped to ensure that this wonderful example of a by-gone era will remain for future generations.
