Library Information
The Arthur Library was established as the “Mechanics Institute”on September 24th 1884.
1884: Rooms off Main Street - Mr. Lillico's Bank
1896: Peterkin Building
1901: A.E. O'Strander Building
1910: Driscoll property - Main Street
1911: Became The Arthur Public Library
1948: William Greig's Building
1949: Municipal Building
1949: The Dewey Decimal System was introduced
1958: Library Cards Cost 10 cents for village residents, 25 cents for non-village residents. No charge to join for County residents.
1976: Became part of the Wellington County System
1979: 124 George Street (former Dr. Bon's Office)
1986: 183 George Street
2009: 110 Charles Street East
